Meet the Baker, Chelsie Herje

Chelsie Herje is the owner and operator of Salty Roan Bakehouse. She was raised on a dairy farm in Kansas where she grew up baking with her mom, learning the traditions and techniques that would shape her future. After marrying Bart Herje and becoming a mom to four kids, Chelsie fell in love with homemade bread while baking for her family. Wanting to bring good quality bread and pastry to the big country, she opened Salty Roan Bakehouse in October of 2017. Chelsie attended the San Francisco Baking Institute where she learned the art of viennoiserie and artisan bread, bringing that expertise home to Abilene.
